2026 KU Kansas Cultural Resources Summit

We are honored to invite tribal representatives to a two-day gathering at the University of Kansas from March 9th to March 10th, 2026. This event will focus on reviewing NAGPRA-eligible collections at the Biodiversity Institute, with the intention of repatriating all such holdings. We also aim to foster discussions surrounding repatriation and cultural heritage. Participants will have the opportunity to explore collections at the Spencer Museum of Art, which we believe will provide a rich context for our conversations. Your insights and perspectives will be invaluable to this important dialogue. As this event is invite-only, you will receive registration information directly from our office.

Join us for a 2-day Cultural Resources Summit aimed at bringing together native tribal nations to continue consults on Ancestors and Associated Funerary Objects (AFOs) in the university museums. This summit will also provide opportunities for community building and collaboration. Please note the agenda below is subject to change.
